a16z’s Tech Week Will Return to Los Angeles This June
.
Venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) is bringing Tech Week back to Los Angeles this summer. From June 5-11th, the city will be the site of inspiring panels, fireside chats, workshops and pitch sessions held in locations across Los Angeles.
Last August saw the inaugural launch of a16z’s Tech Week, which showcased the city as a growing technology hub, focusing on the growing ecosystem of founders, VCs and investors.
Registration is now live for Tech Week 2023. Per the landing page, the event will be a chance to network with “thousands of founders, investors and builders and push 2023 through any would-be recession.”
Local investors already signed on to participate in Tech Week 2023 include M13, Fika Ventures and Clocktower Technology Ventures and Science.
Last year, over 16,000 people showed up for over 200 events, a16z said. This year the venture capital firm is leveraging its global presence to respond to last year’s demand, and will also host Tech Week events in San Francisco and New York.
For those who like to get outside and touch grass, last year offered activity-based networking opportunities including hiking, surfing lessons, or beach yoga. And what we can only hope will be an annual founder’s powerlifting competition.
For the indoor folks, there were plenty of roundtables and panels that touched on the overlap between civic responsibility and emerging technology. These included discussions of Proptech’s place in the LA housing crisis as well as a discussion for those interested in the effect Roe v. Wade’s overturning could have in the Medtech community.
Last year, a number of panels also focused on the two of tech’s biggest buzzwords in 2022: crypto and the metaverse. While the schedule for the upcoming LA Tech Week isn’t out yet, it’ll be interesting to see if these remain a top priority to the community, or whether recent developments in AI and EVs take the main stage.
Stay tuned for more information and coverage of the upcoming event, as dot.LA will be there reporting live. - Samson Amore
