L.A. and many surrounding cities announced curfews after another day of unrest, streaming services and startups posted support for protestors, and the music industry said it would go dark for a day to consider what role it could play in fostering change.
Snap's CEO called for a commission on reparations. Airmap, whose Santa Monica offices were destroyed by fire, called for mutual respect and dignity. And the city's largest VCs posted messages of support and understanding.
Here at dot.LA, we're also taking a moment, postponing this week's events, Instead, we'll hold a discussion on L.A. tech's place in fostering justice, equality and inclusion. We'll have more details soon.
The three major labels and many individual artists called for a "Blackout Tuesday" to pause and consider their responsibility as an industry "that has profited predominantly from Black art," and a "plan of action" for the future. Read more.
